Become a Volunteer For the Indoor Soccer Season
Each season we need lots of volunteers to help with coaching, set-up, clean-up, and refereeing. Students, this is a great way to earn the volunteer hours you need to graduate high school. Plus, we have a bursary program that awards students who have a high number of volunteer hours with this organization. Learn more about the Jeffrey Buchanan Memorial Bursary here.
What is indoor soccer?
We call this indoor soccer as the name Futsal is not well known in this region. We are playing a variation of Futsal which uses the basketball court line markings for the field of play.
Here is a good overview of what Futsal is:
Why Futsal?
Futsal helps develop passing, ball control, and technical ability in close quarters. Players get more touches on the ball per minute than in soccer – up to six times more.
Some of the world’s best known soccer players developed their technique through their play of Futsal.
“The small playing area helped me improve my close control, and whenever I played futsal, I felt free. If it wasn’t for futsal, I wouldn’t be the player I am today.” – Cristiano Ronaldo
“As a little boy in Argentina, I played futsal on the streets and for my club. It was tremendous fun, and it really helped me become who I am today.” – Lionel Messi
“Futsal was important in helping to develop my ball control, quick thinking and passing.” – Pelé
